FALL and some lady in her car! LOL
This week Hermana Player, Hermana Justiniano,
Hermana Costilla (These are the Hermana's that live in the same apartment as
me.) and I all saw an amazing miracle. It was Thanksgiving and we were all
eating lunch in the apartment and I decided to check the phone. We had two
missed calls from a former investigator. Immediately we called. She explained
to us that she had found a young mother with three kids who had run away from
home because her husband had been hitting her. She had three young children
with her. This mother wanted to be dropped off two hours away in a town (I do
not recall the name) because she used to live there. Her plan there was to go
knocking door-to-door looking for someone she knew. We could not let that
happen, she needed somewhere to stay, especially with three young
children.
The former
investigator had been calling around because she didn't know what to do for the
women. She wasn't able to house her because she was supposed to be leaving
town. She knew we loved helping and doing service and so she called us. Immediately
we got to work. We started by calling the Branch president and after a while we
started trying to contact shelters. We called one in San Louis Obispo, which
was the first to answer their phone. After giving some information they took
our number and told us they would call back. As we waited we decided to pray.
We asked for help in finding a place for this family to stay. After we prayed
we received a call and they sadly didn't have enough room but they gave us the
emergency number to a shelter closer to us in Paso Robles. We had tried this
shelter before but not this specific number.
So we called this
emergency number and gave them some information again on the situation. They
then said they would call back. We waited and when they called us back they
told us that a room had just opened up five minutes ago. Five minutes ago! The
same time we had prayed for help. We had asked for help and we received
it!
I know that the power
of prayer is real. When we ask sincerely, knowing that Heavenly Father will
help us, we will receive the help we need. Heavenly Father loves each and every
one of us and wants to help. We just have to be willing to ask for his help, opening
the door for him to be with us.
I love and miss each
and every one of you and cannot wait to see you again! Keep in touch!
Love,
Hermana Gilchrist
